Sorry for just another “how do I do the thing” post. What tips would y’all have for restoring this bad boy to its former glory? It’s an heirloom so I’d like to spruce it up. Might just bring to a sharpener guy/gal but wanted to check with you bandits first. Also happy holidays.

My man I’m not certain that’s a real puma. There is no jimping on the rear of the blade.

And scratch that, no jimping on the bowie. Id start with oil and 0000 steel wool on the blade and see what will come off.

I like citric acid to get rust off steel – YT has a few videos of this. Buy some CA powder and dissolve in water. Make it quite a strong solution. Immerse blade (NOT handle tho) for a full 24hrs. Brown active rust will be gone. Then you may use fine abrasive paper for final finish or it may be OK as it is.
