I have an issue where it messes up the tips on my blades, just sands the right off.

Nice, congrats. One tip I learned on Reddit is to get something that supports the vice portion from the bottom. There are some custom Etsy things, another user mentioned using a block of wood, I used legos. It’ll really help with keeping the unit in place.
