Does anyone know what the markings are used for under the thumb ramp?

Looks like a crude sextant for navigating with the sun moon or stars I’m not sure but it also looks like your unit is printed misaligned with the viewing hole compared to the manufacturers other pictures so I wouldn’t bet my life on that feature in the bush

Looks like a primitive compass of some sort…or else it’s a random protractor.

I thought it could have been a compass but East is on the wrong side

It looks like a compas, but I haven’t seen one number in both directions…

That would be a hole in which a rod attached to a string can be placed in order to run line at a specific angle

It’s a clinometer, sometimes called an inclinometer. It’s used with a weighted string to measure the angle of things above the horizon. There was a book called Everybody’s Knife Bible that advocated this feature in conjunction with a particular land navigation system. The clinometer was for estimating the height of hills, not for celestial objects.

I haven’t seen a Jeo Tec on here before outside of my Tracker I posted way back. Great blades built solid.

It’s used for map reading and land navigation. It’s a half circle protractor.
