For these two….I am team Civivi. The cleaver design isn’t quite as versatile as a simple drop point. And +2 for the micarta scales.

Praxis. I have many knives and none are better from a value perspective. I carry this knife over spydercos many days of the week.

Praxis. I use a Kershaw KR-8700BLK without pin for EDC

Civ if you want a practical knife, cleaver if you want something cool and fun

I’d recommend you not purchase either from Amazon. Amazon has a massive counterfeit problem. Go to a proper knife vendor. This way you know you are getting the real deal. Also if you have an issue, you likely get better customer service going to a knife vendor vs Amazon (or some random third party seller on Amazon).

Imo kershaw has a 20cv blade. The kershaw link. Made in the USA for around 80$ I would recommend that over these two

I would go with the Civivi. I own this knife and carry it often in 2022. Not to heavy, fills good in the hand, and easy to sharpen.

Just got a civivi Voltaic and i love it. So civivi for me.

I got a baby banter for Christmas, and I can say it’s smoother than any Kershaw I own.

I would pick the Praxis. Its steel is a bit better (sharpen less often), and the G10 handle should be more grippy than… actually the Kershaw doesn’t say what the handle is made of :/

Those are two totally different blades, so different you have to love them look of either one.

If you’re new to the blade game though the Praxis might be more practical for now

Kershaw, at least it’s American 🇺🇸 owned.

I prefer civivi to Kershaw but roll with the one that makes you most excited!

If you’re gonna get the static spring for the micarta version it’s a lot nicer for not a lot more

Don’t buy knives from Amazon. Blade HQ or SMKW

Praxis is a fantastic knife. I bought one after I lost my PM2 because I didn’t want to dish out the money for another PM2 and I was pleasantly surprised.

I am a Kershaw guy. I only have a few knives, but they come running so smooth.

  18. Tufted44

Civivi. From my experience Kershaw isn’t great.

I have a definite soft spot for Kershaw. Very well made and it’s an American company even if not all their products are made here.

I’m not even remotely a Civivi fan. Don’t like their blade designs or shapes. Cheap lackluster scales as well. I find them well below my standards aesthetically speaking. However the quality is definitely up there and I cannot and will not attempt to deny them that.

I am, however a Kershaw fan. Same scale quality issues, but amazing and inspired blade shapes and designs. So Kershaw for the win in my book, each time, every time. I’ve also been a Kershaw fan since I started with knives. They truly are some of the best bang for buck you can find. If you’re on a budget they are the go to recommendation for me.

That all said, the Praxis is beautiful and well executed and one of the few Civivi I would gladly carry myself. So exceptions to every rule. Seems like an odd comparison, given that the blades are so significantly differently designed and for completely different purposes.

I know I have much less use for a cleaver personally

  22. BassPro0760

Can’t go wrong with either. But I love the look of the cleaver style.

  23. Vissago1

Kershaw all day. Civivis are trash and have been arriving broken right out of the box. Get a US Kershaw with speedsafe assisted open. One of those was my first knife and I still have it.

  24. TruePlatypusKnight

Ooh those are both very nice. If I had to pick between those two exact models I’d go civivi but that’s personal preference.

  25. PipeInternal2446

Every collection should have a Kershaw. Go that route.

  26. squirt619

Both are great budget knives, my friend has a Static and I own the Praxis. The full size Praxis is a bit bigger than the Static, so if you prefer a less bulky carry I would go with the Static, but Civivi also has a mini-Praxis that is comparable in size to the Kershaw. I believe the mini is available in the same color and finish as the one you posted. I love my Praxis and would highly recommend it!

  27. bradtheinstaller

praxis all day, if you want a cleaver style blade check out the civivi bullmastiff or civivi mastodon

  28. Crazy-Release-4203

Depends on your preference on blade profile. Civivi all day in my opinion

  29. RoyceRedd

Kershaw’s middle priced and higher end knives tend to be a good value. Their cheap knives are pretty much junk and not even worth their low price. This knife fits into the latter category. I would definitely go Civivi in this case.
