Batman does. Don’t ask me how I know.

My only issue is the threads are between vital points of stress. The opening should be on the other end and there should be a solid connection between the hooks and the loop. Also the cap could have a weight in it to keep the center of balance at the end.

I think the only real use would be retrieval of stuff.

I was surprised by the lack of people in here saying they do carry a grappling hook (for all the garbage I see in people’s carries, I was sure some mfers had one) but I was *doubly* surprised by the good folks in here poo-pooing the idea as if the hook couldn’t be useful enough. Don’t get me wrong, I agree and I like the energy but I wish they’d apply this line of thought to half the stuff I see in here.

Don’t leave home without it! Better to have it and not need it, am I right? I have a dope titanium wheelbarrow I push around, filled with gadgets. So I have them.

  6. No thanks, I already have a small collection.

I don’t think there’s much use for one of these in an urban environment—a strong magnet you can tie cord to would be much better for retrieval in that case.

But I can think of several times I’ve been hiking and it would have been nice to have one of these.

So many times, you see trash bags in places that are difficult to get to. Up in trees, down in ravines. Sometimes you even find abandoned or damaged gear (tents and so on) or clothing. I could see something like this being useful if you’re the type to clean up trails while hiking. Heck, might even make it kinda fun.

Outside of that, maybe bring it if you like flying kites near trees or something. 🤷‍♂️

This thing will be lost the first time that you use it. Unless of course you’re a ninja..

I used to, but turns out what I was looking for up there was within me all along.

Luckily what I was looking for wasn’t grip strength. Cause just nope.

For those interested, it was beer.

I don’t EDC one, but when I had a job that included potentially retrieving things from trees I kept one in my gear bag along with 50ft of 100lb Kevlar string. It was actually the same or very similar to OP pic, from “county com” website (?) Used it once in five years. Seems cool but now I’m not even sure which drawer it’s in…

So when are we just going to stop lying and do it.

We all grew up with Batman. We do EDC because we want full on utility belts.

    Lets do it.

I don’t EDC one but keep one in my survival bag. Most of the time I use it for a quick way to hang stuff up when I don’t fancy climbing up high to tie things down when setting up something temporary. (Last time it was tarp)

I EDC a tec retreev, I bought it years ago, never carried it, threw it in my kit recently thinking I’d probably never use it,

2 weeks later standing on a hotel balcony and my son dropped his sunglasses onto the balcony below, I also carry 4.5 metres of Kevlar micro cord, so we tied it on and went fishing for the sunglasses and managed to “retreev” them

Now the sunglasses were freebies he got at some school event, but that’s beside the point, use case and carry justified

I was actually looking for cheeta claws? Any ninja supply stores out there?

  16. I’ve got the TEC accessories RETREEV. Not had cause to use it yet though.

I could see a place for it in a survival or bug out bag, but probably almost no need to actually EDC one.

Typically I can get through most days with just my chap stick and wallet lol.

Totes.you gotta leave it disassembled though. The spikes poke holes in your bag if they’re sticking out. Plus, screwing those in methodically gives you enough time to go over the plan with your partner and say things like, “If I’m not back in 20 minutes, create a diversion on the SE corner of the building.”

Yes, but not like that. I 3D Printed mine. Great for those days where a hobby drone gets stuck in a tree, or (as mentioned in this thread), there’s a trashbag or something else caught in branches. I tend to 3D Print a lot of my EDC gear. If it breaks, I just 3D Print another. Huzzah.

I carry 3 on my utility belt! #EDC baby
