I’ve been playing around with this idea for a modular trench knife, you’d be able to purchase separate parts and customize your own knife. Would any of you knife nuts be interested in such a thing if it were made available?

I can’t say I speak for anyone except myself but edc is the trend right now and a trench knife is getting pretty far from edc which means less of a chance to profit. That means you’d either have to create a knife with unquestionable craftsmanship that takes off on its own in a very niche way or you could dumb it down and add some dragons and interchangeability with a cheap katana blade for the mall ninja who wants options.
In the end I’ll repeat that I’m just one person who shouldn’t stop you from realizing your dreams, seriously. Just some food for thought.

What’s the legality of brass knuckles across the states? I’d guess, its a complex issue.
I know, for sure, they’re prohibited in Canada.

Here’s the sub you’re looking for r/mallninjashit

Honestly a neat concept, just not the execution I’d like. Something I think would sell better would be a folder with swapable blades and scales (like the crkt homefront to take apart, but with different blade/ scale options to mix and match)
dino-dic-hella-thicc
Cool ideal. I would never buy this though.
Chin up and keep innovating op tomorrow you might have your million dollar idea.
Sylas_Beck
It’s an interesting idea and I like how it looks like it would be interchangeable. I unfortunately don’t much care for trench knives personally tho. The interchangeable fixed blade style seems cool tho
ashack711
id be interested in a modular fixed blade, but not a trench knife, no.
Virtual-pornhuber
I don’t think trench knife is a type of knife that worths or needs to be modularize, because when we think of them we view them as collectible item.
Custom_Fish
Like the others said it’s a cool idea and an innovative move that isn’t too common now that knives are so well developed.
Personally I wouldn’t buy it tho – too weapon-y for me
exotic_collector
I would!

I think it is a cool concept that should get the wheels turning for what might be possible when thinking outside of the box. I would just be concerned with blade play. You would want the taper in the handle to be smaller than the tang so when the cap screws on, it pulls the tang into contact with the handle on all sides.
Keep thinking outside the box. If you can come up with something innovative like that for 3-4″ fixed blades or folders, you will be appealing to 1000x more potential buyers

That’s a no for me dawg.
Erdnuss-117
Since trench knives are illegal almost everywhere and if not illegal very questionable you won’t sell many of those.
Another thing is that a trench knife has little to no use besides kill and harm and noone would EDC it. Trench knives are cool but useless and there’s a reason almost noone makes them.
Put the same idea into small fixed blade/neck knife and you’d have my/our attention tho.
ccarr313
Do it with a folder design.
Profit.
OilPhilter
You could include a nice wooden handle too to have more options
Beanie-Greenie
Modular fixed blade or a more like designed-for-modularity folding knife with changeable blades and such would be a better idea. Trench knives just don’t really have a place for me cause they’re not like everyday tools and I’m not in combat.
Geronimo2342
Cool as fuck, would absolutely purchase
Born_Activity7001
Call it mallninja all you want I would absolutely buy one
SmylesLee77
For a trench knife it needs to be bomb proof. The method to secure the blade needs improvement badly.
PoopSmith87
I just don’t see the point.
A modular bushcraft tool I could see… But what is the point of a modular item that can only be one thing, especially one very purpose built, kind of impractical thing?
Like a super heavy duty Bowie knife that can change “blades” with a smaller knife, a machete, shovel, hammer, hawk head, etc. would be interesting.
B-i-g-g-i-B
Pretty slick. I’m tempted to steal this idea with my already designed printed and tested knuckle dusters
GoonyGhoul_
I would definitely by a modular fixed blade, not with a trench knife grip though. I think the grip would be more appealing with it took inspiration from something like a Buck 119.
If you end up bringing this concept to life, a scandi grind drop point blade and a full flat Wharncliffe blade should be included in customization options.
Glass-Chance-9390
Dude, you could unscrew the knife and throw it and still have a set of NUCKS bro.
YES!

Not for me – but that don’t mean much. Cool idea
QualityVodka
A modular multi tool with a hand guard would be cool. Swap out the blade with an axe head/ shovel/ machete / saw etc
bigrocky
It would be cool if the blade was useable outside the knucks. A skeletonized full tang maybe.
gamereiker
I think you would have a better time making full tang jimmy lyle style rambo first blood knives out of good material. The threads on this knife would break and fall apart.
SirSilus
I would 100% buy this. It looks a little r/mallninjashit but if it functions properly, the design could be successful.
TheBigRabilowski
Two thoughts…
1) If you are going to make interchangeable blades, make interchangeable handles, as well.
2) Consider adding channels to the blade handle and grip handle to reduce blade play and to take some of the stress off of the pommel screw.
