Are these Japanese knives worth much? Was told they may be the expensive variant.

   About $30 each I’d say. If they’re made in Japan and have 3-layer steel then that’s what you’ll pay. Not $160 variety. If they’re the former (cheaper) ones then you’ll find them excellent tools that take a really sharp edge.

   Higonokami, Base models are cheap. Some of their variants go up to a few hundred from what i seen.

    $30-$40 new, you could probably get $15-$20 each.

    its probably the only knife they can legally have in japan, that would be my guess on why they even exist
