I fully admit I (likely many others here) only really use a portion of the knives I actually own. I have 4 or 5 true daily carries which I do not baby, the rest are just for enjoyment at my desk.

I have carried all of these (besides the stilettos) a few times, but given the way I work/live, only a handful actually fit my daily needs. Aint nothing wrong with that!

I’m a large guy (6ft 4) with XXL hands, so my preferences tend to lean towards the larger stuff. A standard PM2 or Griptillian always felt undersized for me. Generally, I’m looking at a minimum blade length of 3.5”. And I prefer something on the slimmer side, as I hate bulk in my pockets (ironic I know).

Over the years, I rode the rollercoaster of collecting increasingly more expensive/rare knives to the point that I was only eyeing customs. I had an embarrassingly large amount of Mid-techs and Customs, primarily interested in makers like Chaves, Dalibor, and others. I’ve since sold off anything that’s more valuable than a car payment haha!

What prompted the purge? A realization that I have 5+ collections that all simultaneously had gotten out of hand haha. I consciously decided to reduce them down a bit, as a personal test, and to make more space in my life (literally).

The two knives I regret selling, and will likely hunt for again are my Spyderco Paysan (for me, the sexiest design I’ve ever seen) and one of my Chaves 228’s (my most carried). Also, I miss having a CRK Umnumzaan and/or a Spartan Harsey folder in the case, so damn pretty in very similar ways.

I’ve always tried to not be brand-loyal, never turning my nose up at anything, other than Striders. Hopefully that’s reflected in my collection, there’s some killer budget stuff in the case as of now, and I cherish them all, at this point I just like what I like, not much criteria if any.

If I *had* to pick a favorite brand overall, it would likely be Spyderco, mostly because their designs speak to my own preferences and taste. Plus, I’ve always appreciated their size, and lack of a flipper tab generally. To each their own!

    Thanks!
