    Scotch brite, baking soda, and elbow grease. But all carbon steels are gonna rust to some extent.

    I use compressor oil (most oils should work) and rub hard with a rag.

    Combining cleaning vinegar and baking soda is the best homemade rust remover. The vinegar breaks down the rust particles and the gentle abrasive action of the baking soda helps scrub them away from the metal.

    A diamond dust finger nail file with some light oil. Go slow and gentile.
