So I stippled my praxis…
Wasn’t happy with how smooth the coarse micarta was on my Praxis, love everything about the blade, just wanted something significantly grippier since my hands are always either damp at work (I work as a bartender) or just really sweaty the rest of the time.
I got some great advice to bring out the roughness before breaking out the tools, but just wanted something even more aggressive, so got my dremel and went to work.
I used a small woodcutting ball bit (see last image) attached to the flex shaft, set the dremel to 20k rpm it to and just started dotting. Took me about 10 mins per scale.
It may not be the prettiest, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. The grip is significantly better, especially with gloves on. Feels like it’s glued to my hand.
What do you guys think?
This is my first attempt at any knife modification besides hardware/scale swaps, and it’s given me the confidence to put my hand to some other jobs I’ve been weighing up in my head. Next up is a forced patina on my D2 mini praxis, it’s got some ugly blemishes from cutting citrus at work, so if anyone has any tips on that, feel free to put them in the comments
