Received the DF02 in the mail today. It’s pretty clearly a direct ripoff of the Barrel Flashlight Company’s “Brake” design. How does the rest of the community feel about the existence of these clones? Obviously it doesn’t bother me since I bought one, but I’m not exactly the type of person who would be interested in waiting around for a Barrel drop and falling over myself to give them $1000 for a light.
As for the light itself, it’s quite good for the price. I bought it directly from the Maeerxu site for $37. 519a 5700k emitters. The UI isn’t bad at all once you disable the aux LEDs (which you basically have to do for a usable experience). They aren’t really true aux emitters, it’s basically a 2nd channel of RGB that’s always your first mode when you turn on the light. They don’t stay on when the light is powered off. It’s still nice to have though so you can make the light do fun tricks if you desire. The light does seem a bit large to be using a 14500 battery, but I believe it was done in order to leave room for the brass insert tube that is visible through the holes in the side. Otherwise, I would hope that a light this size would use an 18650.
