Just got in this sub-$40 balisong by Ganzo. It has a very thinly-ground 3.5″ 440C blade with sandwich-construction G10 handles and steel inserts for the pin contact points and latch. The pivots run on washers in between the blade tang and steel inserts. The build results in a *very* light knife at 1.76oz. While the size and weight may not make it a good flipper, it does make for a decent little utility balisong. I’m not a flipper so this suits me just fine.

When I got the G766, it appeared to have already been opened and played with. There were tears in the box’s flap, and the knife was outside of the little nylon pouch that Ganzo includes in their boxes. When I picked it up, all the screws were loose, and there was play all around. I gave it a once-over and didn’t see any damage or signs of use apart from the loose screws so I said “whatever” and brushed it off. I disassembled it, cleaned and lubed the pivots, and snugged down all the screws to check out the action. With the screws properly tightened, it’s super smooth with very little handle play. There’s also very little flex in the handles considering it’s mostly G10. If these screws stay put (which they should with Loctite) this should remain a handy little knife for someone who doesn’t do too many tricks, but wants a handle little gravity knife they can actually use.
