It felt like I had to hold the Raccoon extremely carefully to keep the blade from swinging into my palm when operating the crossbar lock one-handed. Dug out my 3D printer and replaced the stock insert at the base of the handle with an extended one. Not sure if I’m just a klutz, but happy to share the .stp file if anyone wants it.

Are you more accustomed to using frame/liner locks?
I have one knife with that type lock, a Spyderco, and I find that it takes more effort than any of my frame/liner locks to release the lock while keeping my fingers out of the way. I suspect its because I have a lot of frame/liner locks, so I’m more accustomed to releasing them, but I don’t see the appeal of that type of lock. I have to contort my fingers on the frame to keep them out of the way as the blade drops, and I’ve never liked the feel of that process. Or, maybe I just need more practice, IDK.
Innovation that excites.
Maybe sharp pointy toys aren’t for you. Find a safer fidget toy. That said, it’s cool that you came up with a solution to protect yourself.
I don’t think you’re being a klutz, I think they brought the edge way to close to the bottom of the scales for the size the type of lock. I’ve done that before on the ZT0022 just trying to flip it open and the edge caught my palm.
