I have this bear grylls knife, how do i keep it sharp and what does the bottom and the top do differently and why is it different?
And what advice would you give tonsomeone who knows nothing about knive brands and types and wants a collection?

The “saw” part of the blade is serrated. It’s helpful for sawing through tough fibers or cords.
The plain edge is for smoother cuts or cutting something without the need for serrations.
Partial serrations are a bit controversial because they are sharpened with different techniques and it sort of complicated the blade.
To sharpen plain edges, you would use a flat surface of a sharpening stone.
To sharpen serrations, you need a sharpener that fits into the grooves of the serrations (usually a round or triangular rod)
It looks in pretty good shape right now, I wouldn’t worry about it until it stops cutting.
