Except the price. $1 is disposable priced. Much cost optimization effort went into this. Build quality is better than expected. Plastic but sturdy and the switch is a lever that has a nice feel…
What I find most interesting is that it’s being driven just like an incandescent bulb in a mini mag. Cheap AA are decent current limiting resistors… Old school.
It’s planned as a base for an emitter swap to make a 3 year old child happy, so hopefully it’ll handle that well enough. Might shoehorn a 5mm through hole emitter inside this, since I have neat blinky ones I think a kid would like.
