This is a real decoration of my collection. This rare Knife came to me used – but it is no less valuable to me! A total of 20 such knives were made, I have #17, and one of them is used by master himself! Of particular interest here is the handle, made in the mokume technique – (Japanese *Ei, lit. «metal wood») – a metal decoration technique that creates a pattern similar to the texture of wood with age rings. It originated in Japan about 300 years ago. In the 17th century, a long peace period came in Japan and, accordingly, samurai swords became more of a decoration than a combat weapon. In this sense, mokume became a symbol of rethinking and self-expression of the samurai of that time.
