Hey guys, I know you have probably seen hundreds of posts like this, but I wanted to ask for a knife recommendation since my EDC knife has broken recently.
I want a folding knife that is good for self defense but can be used to skin small game. Being easy to sharpen is a big plus.
My budget is 100 dollars, I know a lot of good quality knives go for more than that, but I’m a cheap bastard, and if I spend more that knife won’t ever leave the house.
As of now, the Spyderco Endura 4 seems like a good choice.

It is, I’ve had a couple over the years. I would recommend the full flat ground since the saber grind model feels blade heavy in hand.
Endura is a fine knife. Others in that size range:
Ontario Rat 1, Civivi Praxis, Petrified Fish Beluga, Bestech Swordfish, CJRB Prado, RealSteel Pathfinder, and pretty much anything in the Cold Steel catalog.
For skinning game, just remember that any folder will need to be cleaned thoroughly after that kind of use.
Don’t carry a knife for self defense. Carry mace, pepper spray, a whistle, a cellphone, and/or self-defense training.
If youβre looking at the endura, consider the Endela. IMO, better for EDC, hits that sweet spot in size. Get yourself a flat grind model and add a deep carry clip and youβll hardly know itβs in your pocket but very capable.
The spyderco Endura is my favorite spyderco design, over the para2, manix2, para3 and all others I have.
If I was to sell off my collection and completely walk away from the hobby, an Endura would be the one knife I kept.
A spyderco tenacious is a good choice
