In a small shoulderbag with other stuff but in a dedicated pocket

Funny, I got me the exact same one a few days ago in Germany. And I was fiddling with the black plastic over the red pushbutton cause I wasn’t sure wether to lift the black resistant thing or push it down.
Long story short I accidentally sprayed on my other hand and it basically spread in the air and I got it into my eyes a bit and inhaled a bit. It burnt on my hand a bit but not in my eyes or my mouth cause I’m used to accidentally getting my fingers with ultra hot Carolina reaper chilli powder residue into my eyes and I eat that stuff everyday in masses so there’s a certain immunity built up against that pepper spray LOL.
Edit: I think the black cover thing needs to be pushed down and then the two little corners left and right orbit break in order you can push the red button.
I would do it exactly how you have it except close your fingers a little tighter around it that way it doesn’t come out of your hand if your arm changes orientation.
But as others have said, some sort of pouch or a sling bag.
