So I’ve had this flashlight for almost a year now and haven’t used it all that much. I do know it’s supposed to have two settings, standard and bright. But now when I turn it on both settings are the same. Is there a problem with the flashlight or are the batteries just low?

Probably that the batteries are low but if that doesn’t fix it, send it off to surefire and they will probably fix it.
Some information is lacking. Is yours G2X Pro or G2X LE? When you said both are same, is it low-low now, or high-high?
If it’s low-low, chances are that the battery is nearing full depletion – try swapping in **a pair** of new CR123A or 1×16650. If it’s high-high, something is indeed wrong. I’m guessing low-low in G2X Pro is what you meant, considering how it’s almost implied you haven’t changed the battery out since last year. They may have been flat since last year since the model does not have parasitic drain and CR123As have a long shelf life. If it was instead a 16650 left inside it and remained uncharged from last year, it would be reasonable to get low-low.
