  1. This is my first “flat light”, and my first Olight in a long time. And I have to say- I’m really impressed. But not for the reasons I was expecting.

I’ve been interested in trying a flat light as a new EDC option and saw a video for this new one and just thought it looked really cool. The color, the angular design, and the textured aluminum. When I got it in person it knocked it out of the park on every one of those expectations. It looks awesome, and it feels *fantastic* in hand. I love the slight roughness of the aluminum and the knurling on the sides.

As an actually EDC I don’t see it replacing my trusty sc64 however. It is a little thinner on the flat side but it’s quite a bit heavier, and longer. What the light really excels at, and its very surprising coming from Olight, is as an enthusiast light, similar to many of the lights from Hank, or Reylight, Its a light that reminds me of *why I love flashlights*. There’s no real practical reason for UV or lasers ( maybe a few very specific use-cases), but it’s beautiful, it’s fun, and it’s quirky.

    A few housekeeping notes:

    – I saw a few reviews saying the color came close to gold. It doesn’t. It’s very much a greenish drab color. I took a picture with it next to a bronze pen on top of Multicam fatigues and its a near identical match.

    – The beam is definitely cooler, but it’s not unpleasant and don’t have any greenish tint.

    – The battery level indicator is another super satisfying feature. It ramps up or down from the current level instead of just flashing the level.Subtle but beautiful.
