Inspired by the posts here, I applied the shipwreck treatment to PM3 scales I had laying around. Turned out pretty good I think.

Process:
(1) Polished scales to a high shine (to around 2000 grit)
(2) Clean scales with acetone
(3) Create fume chamber using Tupperware. Suspend scales in Tupperware using coat hanger punched through sides.
(4) Line bottom of Tupperware with paper towels
(5) Pour ammonia from Dollar General in bottom of Tupperware.
(6) Sprinkle suspended scales with table salt and ammonia.
(7) Let sit for three days
(8) Coat with automotive clear coat. Sand clear coat to 2000 grit once dry.
