   * Horizontal or vertical mounting nylon sheath… love the horizontal mount: most days can barely notice the tool’s presence.
   * The tool has an appealing aesthetic, built like a tank.  Difficult to open pliers in the first month.  Closing action of pliers leads to a very satisfying ‘click’.

   •Straight blade- Just over two inches long, dulled very quickly.  Would honestly rather see a different tool in this slot

   •Large flathead screwdriver- This tool has an added file and measuring portion (1.5″/ 4 cm).  I am not a fan of this particular file…it’s small size makes it quite awkward in practical usage.  The measuring stick might be good in emergencies but that’s about it.  It is not user friendly. On a positive note, the large flathead seems capable.

   •Awl- Love this small awl!  Just over an inch long: I have somehow chipped the tip of mine unknowingly to me until this review.

   •Small screwdriver/ can opener/ bottle opener-
   Neat little tool.

   •Scissors- Capable, comfortable, and convenient.  Last week, my girlfriend broke one of her finger nails… I very happily handed her my multi tool scissors.  Disaster averted.  I’ve heard some negative views on these scissors but my experience has been good so far.  Yes, there are better ones out there but these are sufficient.

   •Serrated blade- Just over 2″, this blade is definitely one of the stars of the show.  I look for reasons to use this blade and it has proved very satisfying. 

   •Medium flathead screwdriver/ wire stripper- I haven’t used the wire stripper yet but have seen some demonstrations stating that larger gauge wires are easier to work with than the smaller ones.     Screwdriver is as advertised.

   •Philip’s head screwdriver-
   One of the stars of the show: good length and versatile. I am looking to get a Leatherman removable bit driver kit to diversify this tool. The adapter slides onto the end of the Philips. Nextool bit kit also works.

   •Wood saw- Short, awkward.  This seems to be basically a novelty. Just use a real saw if possible.

   •Pliers/ wire cutters- Visually pleasing and very capable: my favorite part of the tool.

   Overall:
   * Locking mechanisms work well even with gloves on one’s hands.
   * Could use this tool as a weapon if you threw it at someone 😀  I like the weight but others may consider it too heavy. 
   * This tool ( Gerber Truss) will be the one I abuse and hand to other people to use.  I really want the Black Oxide Leatherman Wave Plus (it will be my 3rd wave) and will probably treat it like my Sunday best. 
   * Priced from $40-50, this tool is fairly priced and will scratch the multitool itch if you have one.
   * I supplemented this tool with a Gerber EAB Lite Utility Razor and a Buck Trekker XLT Folding Knife (both are approximately $15 a piece @ Walmart).

   * I’ve always been a ‘Leatherman guy’ and with that being said, I’m glad that I got to experience this Gerber tool and not go blindly forward with a bias without trying out the competition.

   * 6.5 / 10    -add a point for value if you like.
