Which do you like better? Spyderco para 3 or Benchmade 945?

If I could only keep one, para 3.

Though they both have their strengths – I like the 945 for how slim it is.

  2. I’m probably in the minority but I can’t stand the handle to blade ratio of the Para 3 and PM2. Or most Spydercos really. So I have to go with the 945, even though I’ve had a bad omega spring experience. Only on 1 of 3 Benchmades I own, but still.

Para3 all day, not even close..

More slicey, more efficient blade shape, easier to open with gloves on, better ergonomics, stronger lock, no springs to break, easier to maintain & service, seemingly endless options for customization & aftermarket support, & the list goes on…

  4. I’d love the 945 if the liners weren’t blue. Triple black for me.

    I’d buy a Byrd over a Benchmade so I’ll go Para 3.

I’d take the para 3 over the benchmade in my opinion

  7. That compression lock is king for me. It just makes sense – easy to use one handed, easy to use with gloves on, no fingers in the path of the blade, strong, out of the way. Perfection.

Never had the Para, but I love my benchmade 945

Damn this is a hard one! I have had a 940 in my carry rotation since the late 90’s. But the Paramilitary 2 and Para 3 are some of my favorites.

I’ll say equal love from me but for different purposes.

Para 3 but get the MXG clip with the lanyard cutout, they have it blacked out too

I’m a sucker for the axis lock, but for the price I think you’re getting a better knife with the spidey

  12. If you’re buttering bread, go with the 945. For everything else, Para 3.

Para 3 all the way. Especially In Maxamet 😀

In the sub 200 range i dont think anything really can stand toe to toe with para 3/2

The only negative about the Para 3 is that they don’t have a sharpening choil. I’m going to add one to mine soon

Para 3 by a mile. Thinner behind the edge, better ergonomics, and no omega spring.

Para 3… Can’t trust Benchmade anymore.

    I just replaced my 945 with a para 3.
