Anyone else consider a prybar essential EDC? It took some carrying to get me feeling this way.

For my work, I would say yes but I don’t currently carry one. I need to find one about the size of a standard pen that’s made of steel with a pocket clip

  3. Personally don’t have a use for one, looks nice though.

This is an Atlas Prybar from Cerberus Knives. The purple insert glows in the dark, which is more of a party trick than a practical usage thing.

I like that it’s made of CPM 3v steel. Tough stuff. I carry it typically in my work vest and often use it for scraping epoxy membranes off concrete decks during field reviews.

You carry it around with you everywhere and it just seems like a waste of time until you actually need it and then you understand.

I carried a similarly sized prybar on my keychain for quite a while, a year or two.

I found that my smaller/lighter keychain bottle opener handled prying jobs just as well for the most part, and that anything it couldn’t handle usually needed a full size pry tool.

Bottle opener stayed in the daily carry, pry bar went into the junk drawer.

  7. I have the free one from Olight. The only thing I’ve used it for is to dig rocks out of my tire treads

I’ve had a Niteize doohickey on my keys for some years. Always comes in handy.

Any info on that watch peeking out? Looks sleek

Definitely not essential. I have one on my keychain and use it occasionally

I carry one cause I can open packages with it and it doesn’t break any rules at my job site as opposed to a knife.

So unessential I’ve made it 34 years without ever needing one.

ALRIGHT ALRIGHT I’ll get one. Jesus.

  14. 100% love having one with me. Seems to me prys and many edc items really depend on the person and what they do in the day to day.

Yes I’m so glad I had mine today

Opening a key ring, popping a lid off something, prying up something loose to open it, etc. Prying up something I can’t open while I have gloves on. It’s the most used thing behind my knife and flashlight.

That said, I do not carry a dedicated pry bar that provides no other functionality. I have 3 items on my keybar that double as a pry bar. Otherwise my pry bars are all integrated items – part of my knife, part of my box cutter, part of my wallet, etc.

I am just mad that all the good prybars cost more than $30.

I mean I can’t even think of the last time I used a prybar so I definitely don’t need to carry one daily.

I use the flat blade on my Leatherman wingman
