I’ve owned two gerber knives. I won’t be owning any more.

I’ve got a Suspension, a Curve, a Dime, and a knife whose namei can’t remember. One hand opening. Like them all a lot, LOVE the knife.
I’ve heard the Dime quality has decreased, but mine is fine. Want to get an MT 600, or whatever the slide opener is.

Gerber is really good at approaching greatness with their tools.

I owned a silver one of these, it was fine, ended up gifting it to my brother and buying a Curl. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but plenty functional.

iPhone Gerber and Leatherman and sadly no others but I’m trying to figure out what my next multi-tool will be

I have this particular model, it’s what I carry when I don’t want to muck up a leatherman. (Work around fryers sometimes, use it to open salt bags for my water system.) It’s light and durable enough for light tasks. Wish it had a plain straight edge blade tho.

My first multitool was an MP400 back in 2003. It was a pretty decent multitool, fantastic bottle opener. Really liked that I could open all tools with one hand. Would recommend as a more affordable Leatherman/Victorinox alternative (if you have the dollars, 100% get the Spirit X though).
Replaced it with a Cybertool L in 2008 or so.

I have a bunch of gerbers and the only one I didn’t like was the dual force and center drive.

yeah, i love when pliers bend when trying to fasten the most basic 101 level fastener

I always felt the size of the tool vs the size of the implements was not as good as it could be. The knife is kind of too small for how bulky that tool is, and lots of Gerbers are like that. The Leatherman OHT had that problem but generally I think Leatherman uses a more compact design language and have better designed tools, in my opinion.

I have a soft spot for their older models, but prefer to buy Leatherman & Victorinox now. Used The original model for years, & still carry an MP400 in my commuter bag now. But years after buying a Wave and then attempting to go back to Gerber by buying a Freehand & Flik, I was pretty disappointed. Never bought much from them again for anything that might matter except for a Dime for my keys.

Only like Gerber MP range. The rest I find a bit unremarkable.

The Gerber Legend and the Center Drive are fantastic. The rest are pretty poor too mediocre. I’ve broken countless Curves,Des,and Vices, and found the others I’ve tried to be less than stellar

Long time Gerber fan … Multi tool and knives. Never had one fail.

I’ve had my Gerber Diesel since 2007 and carried it daily until about 6 months ago. the serrated blade is the only thing that has damage to it.
All my other Gerber knives have held up and served me well.
I recently received the Gerber center drive as a gift and purchased the dual force shortly after. Love the multi-tool and everything they offer except the one thing they built it around– the center drive lol, it sucks. Could of been implemented better, hinge design/positioning is weak and it adds a very awkward carry shape/size to the platform that’s not needed. I will be removing them and retro fitting custom drivers to them.
Otherwise gerber has been awesome to me.

my first dual force was messed up, but my replacement is perfect. it’s my EDC now, and I’m not going back to overpriced AF Leatherman. I carry a Vic pioneer asa companion for it. hope this helps. oh, and all the mp tools are great. especially the diesel.

I been using a Truss for about a year at work. I use the scissors, the wire cutters, the Philips and flat heads daily. I keep a utility knife because I cut rope a lot and it’s hard to keep the knife on the Truss sharp.
For 40 bucks on sale it’s probably the most useful multi tool I’ve ever gotten. Honestly I wasn’t expecting this tool to last as long as it has, those spring pliers work just as good as the first day and even though it gets submerged in mud constantly and gets rinsed just as much I don’t see any sign of rust.

The Dime is hot garbage. Period. Most of Gerber’s stuff is great ideas and piss poor execution. Cool knife design and lock running shit steel. SOG is literally worthless as they have virtually no warranty. A couple of years ago I got rid of all of my Leatherman stuff and moved up to Victorinox. No regrets.

40 years ago, I was a Reservist and purchased a very nice Gerber boot knife. Razor sharp and solid as a rock. Still have it, though it lives in my wife’s night table. Because of this, I decided to buy the Dual Force, in spite of multiple comments about the falling off of Gerber’s build quality. Took it out of the package in the parking lot of the store I bought it from, and the magnet literally fell out of the bit driver (in pieces). Further examination revealed a long “gouge” in the file. Just inexcusable quality control to let something that leave the factory.

So “no” . . . no Gerbers here.
spiritual_armorer
I have a dime and the armbar and for extremely light tasks they work great. I carry my armbar with my skeletool since it has big scissors, a regular knife, and a pry bar as well as an awl. It’s a pretty light setup but has a sufficient # of tools when combined.
Playful_Meeting6710
Honestly I didn’t know they made them anymore, my brother had a pair of some of first models they made some 20+ yrs ago. The way the pliers flipped out and locked into place was an awful design. Torqued down on something not long after purchasing and the mechanism completely locked up.

Gerber makes “some” decent knives and multi tools . I love my Center Drive and Auto 06. Gotta look for their USA made items.

I have that exact tool use it every day. My only issue is that the blades dull pretty quick. I’ve had it a year and its still nice and tight.

Late to the party but, I’m partial to the Multiplier series, particularly the MP 400/600 series. The 400 is a really pocket friendly (size-wise and ergonomics) tool that packs full sized tools, the 600 are the only series (and Gerber is at the time the only manufacturer) that has blunt nosed pliers in a multi tool, and the many iterations (and ease of modifications)of it makes it easy to “get what you need”; both series come either silver or black oxide and locking tools. My only gripe is the use of carbide cutters, as even the mere contact between them when gripping hard makes them chip easily and are an expensive proposition to replace. The Dime has been a pretty good keychain tool for me, but is not used often. Haven’t had a good experience with the NXT Suspensions, as the fit, finish and feel are subpar for me as compared to the MP’s. Haven’t hear “the call” or felt “the need” for the Center Drive series or the Dual Force tools.
