I don’t know if this is the right subreddit for this but i just bought this (old i think) M-9 style saw back knife at auction on ebay, didn’t pay much, i think 10 or 15 not including shipping. Handle was wrapped in electrical tape and then rotted duck tape. Under all that lies a broken plastic handle, and what i thought was a full tang blade, is a barely partial tang knife. I need help fixing it but i don’t know if it’s possible.
I’d like a better tang, and some sharpening tips. Handle i can make myself, wood and leather that’s no problem. It also came with a compass, attached to the bottom of the knife for some reason. Any info on these types of knifes would be nice too. Any help at all would be super appreciated, i’m new to knifes, i have my dads old pocket knife from the 60s and that’s it.

Forgot to add pictures of this, but it comes with a cheapo leather? faux leather? case and a pocket sharpening stone.

That is an impressively small tang
I had one as a kid. Greatest knife ever, until you tried to use it as a knife.
I think your tang was in cold water…
lol
I don’t think you can fix this (I also don’t think it would be worth it), just get a mora companion or mora basic. Great beginer’s knife even though it tends to lean much more towards a bushcraft knife (a knife is a knife after all, you may even be able to reprofile the edge with a file if you want to make it fit your needs). You will never be able to beat the quality for the price.
