I took a break from flashlight purchases for a while but a recent deal on ti Rider RX & Pokelit brought me back in. I love my i3t stainless steel, but wanted a similar light with more power for edc.

I decided to start with the Rider RX so here it is compared to some of my “EDC” lights.

Quick review: Overall, I’d rate it 7/10

Pros:
1) Beautiful warm beam courtesy of the Nichia 519A
2) My first stonewashed ti light. Kinda cool texture.
3) Fidget factor + cool 2-layer, duo color design.

Cons:
1) Larger than expected. I was thinking of something along the line of the Olighr i3t or Diffuser. Instead, it’s almost the size of my Baton 3 pro at half the power.
2) Fidget mechanism is flimsier than expected. As a result, I probably won’t play with it much.
3) Power is alright. I prefer Baton 3 Pro or my LD70. 4) Both lights have better build quality than the Rider RX 2.0. To be fair, both cost more.

Other thoughts:
1) The 2-layer wow factor is not as good as my E70…ans that light it has way more power + longevity. I’m probably going to target an e70 mini next. Maybe ti if I see it on sale. I missed the rainbow pvd ti E70. A similar version in e70 mini would be awesome.
2) For edc, I still go back to my TiCu TS10 & my 18350 FW3A. Both of them are awesome, but they need a little lanyard hole of some sort for true edc. I don’t like clips as they make the lights too large.

Any suggestion for another good edc light? Especially exotic material ones.
