The D3aa is a tiny 14500 pocket monster that throws 200m with a fairly floody optic. It has an optional TIR you can add for like $8 to make it throwier too. Sure with boost driver and copper accents and optional optics it gets expensive but you can buy this light for like $45 shipped.

I love Hank lights and his customer support and custom options are unbeatable. The D3AA is very nice too. However it really needs a good 14500 to perform well and there’s basically only 1 or 2 cells that can do it, and still suffers from pre flash and wobbling flicker at low levels. Do I care, no, because I think its fine, but there is no way that Hank is far ahead. In fact, I personally feel like other than the D3AA, all his other offerings are in need of a refresh. The drivers feel almost dated to the competition. The bodies are classic and I like them but they are starting to feel a bit old. The competition has caught up significantly in the past two years and I am looking forward to Hank innovating. Clearly he has more things up his sleeve.

They are nice lights, but a bit expensive for what you get. Personally I’m not a fan of the buttons.
