I’m using my original TAC AA 519a with Eneloops as my car light. I leave it in the glove compartment and forget about it (summer, winter – doesn’t matter).

So I was kinda excited when Acebeam announced this thing, hoping it would have SFT-25R (I’d does, now) that is driven hard. I was also hoping for a better driver than the one in the original TAC AA. Two switches were also interesting (possible direct to turbo ignoring mode memory).

A week or two someone made the only post about a TAC 2AA and was disappointed and returned the light. I’m happy to tell you that I’m keeping it. I don’t have the idea of using it as a thrower any more since it’s flooder than an E75 (pic). I decided to use it as a multi purpose car light. With two Eneloops, of course. Kinda premium T4.

TWO SWITCH PROBLEM
So, this isn’t L35 nor T35 solution. It’s a mix. A weird one.
There are two modes: Daily and Tactical. Mode switching is done by holding the side button and then clicking the tail switch (when the light is off).

Daily is like T35 but with a twist: tail switch is more like a mechanical lockout then a switch. It gives or cuts power to the side switch. Also, side switch can turn of the light and leave it in standby. You know that you are in standby because of the little LED on the side switch. It’s the same as the side switch on the M2-X but with no click. There’s a close-up photo (last pic). When you turn the light completely off by tail switch and then turn it back on it uses mode memory.

Tactical is direct to turbo, but you can still use the side button normally and change the output power. Turning it off then on gets you back to turbo. There’s no mode memory.

I kinda like it for a glovebox light. I think I’m going to try the blue SFT-25R version also but I don’t expect it to out-throw a TS12.

Returned mine the same day. I hated turning it off via side switch, only to press the tail switch and nothing would happen. It’s like I turned it off twice. When I use the tail, I want to know it’s coming on hell or high water.

Glad you’re enjoying it, although I shall not be buying one precisely because it isn’t a thrower.

Damn shame not to give it a similar candela per lumen as the original Tac AA IMO.
